1. Waris Shah wrote the celebrated Punjabi classic Heer Ranjha

2 Mullah comandar, is the villain of swat valley

I Ask Waris Shah, Today(the Original translation)
I ask Waris Shah today to speak up somewhere from the gravesAnd to turn to a new page of the book of love
Once, when one daughter of Punjab wept, you had hit out by writing (1)Today a million daughters weep and implore you, Waris Shah:
Arise, O friend of the distressed! Arise, see the plight of your PunjabCorpses lie strewn in the fields and Chenab is filled with blood
Someone has mixed poison into the waters of the five riversAnd that water is now irrigating the land
This fertile land is sprouting poison,**the horizon has turned scarlet-red and the curses fly to the sky**
The poisonous wind that passes through the forest**Has transformed each bamboo-shoot into a cobra**
The first snake-bite made the snake-charmer forget his spell**And the subsequent bites have addicted the people**
They have been bitten again and again**And in no time, the limbs of Punjab have turned blue**
Silenced are the songs in the streets, the thread of the spinning-wheels snappedThe girls have fled the courtyards, the whirr of the spinning wheels halted
The wedding beds and the boats have been thrown awayToday the branch with the swing on the Pipal has broken
The flute through which blew the breath of love is lostAll the brothers of Ranjha today have forgotten this art
Blood rained on the earth and the graves are leaking And the princesses of love are crying amidst the tombs
All have become Qaidon (2) today, thieves of beauty and love Today, wherefrom shall we get yet another Warish Shah?
I ask Waris Shah today to speak up somewhere from the gravesAnd to turn to a new page of the book of love

    Very nicely done. Congratulations.

from jange plassi to today every movement which is western sponsered flourished and get success in this country so it is the sound of empty vessels to call on mr. Eh te zaz on the death of pakistani innocents
    thanks

  3. I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Ahsan, a respect that precedes his emergence as the voice of the lawyers’ movement… I recall staying up late to watch his speeches on the Senate floor during the early to mid 90’s…

But I must say, the above poem echoes my disappointment for his silence ever since Chaudhary was restored…

His unwillingness (or inability) to keep the rightwing (JI, PTI, PML-N) at an arm’s length during the lawyers’ movement, despite him having the stature and the charisma to take his movement along without those rightwingers’ aid, was a bitter enough pill to swallow…

But his silence, his refusal to use the bully pulpit his new celebrity status has made available, to condemn the Taliban, is downright criminal… despite the rightwing’s presence amongst the lawyers’ movement, he was the leading light… if he speaks out, people will listen, even those of an inherently right-of-center bent who nevertheless respect him and supported his movement… and it is such people who must be converted to the cause… preaching to the choir, in this case people like us who the media somewhat contemptuously refers to as liberals isn’t good enough… and he hasn’t even done that…

    Dilnawaz mian,

Let us frikkin’ learn to tell the truth … please. Almost every retrogressive constitutional provision and ridiculous compromise with the Mullahs and the Islamists have come from the so called left… confused people like yourself.

The people who supported Lawyers’ movement did not sell the country to taliban… ANP and PPP did.

Accept it instead of writing inane and stupid emails to Nusrat Javeed and AAJ TV accusing them of being rightwingers for questioning British government’s decision to expel Pakistani students…

why this ” Frikking” attitude, I like Aitzaz Ahsan the poem is classic Punjabi lament by Amrita pritam. I was Honouring Aitzaz Ahsan by writing to him in Waris Shah’s Style. DO U Know the historical context of Heer Waris Shah.

Ha Ha, You must have Hacked my email account to know that email that I wrote to Nusrat Javed
was it childish to write the email or hack someones email??
We are fellow contributors on PTH,lets behave Civil
lots of respect for PTH team

  6. I respect Nusrat Javed for his stance, I respect DHL for his stance in lawyers movement. It was a secular and liberal movement. Dr. Kaiser Bengali was wrong in asessing it as right wing movement. but the final analysis remains valid. The Right Wing (PTI,PML and JI) are posturing against (PPP,MQM and sane elements in ANP)

well there is right wing PPP and ANP opportunists as well who would sell their fathers’ graves to the lowest bider, sadly true

  7. I HAVE CHANGED MY EMAIL ACCOUNTS PASSWORDS

THANKS FOR CHILD’S PLAY, THE RIGHT WINGERS CANNOT CHASE OUT A DIE-HARD MARXIST, I REFUSE TO QUIT LIKE SHERRY HAD TO LEAVE BECOZ OF MUD SLINGING,

I HAVE MY POINT OF VIEW, IF YLH DOES NOT LIKE IT.
IT IS UPTO TO PTH TO PUBLISH STUFF. THE CAN ONLY CENSOR MY POSTS!
SO FAR IF THEY PERMIT ME PUBLISH MY DISSENTING VIEWS,
WE SHOULD ALL RESPECT FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION FULL STOP.

  8. YLH

    Dilnawaz mian,

The reason why Sherry quit was because he can’t handle disagreement…

The reason I know about your little email is because Nusrat Javeed read it out on TV and made fun of it.

Now I am travelling right now and have no time for self styled leftists like you who do left great harm by associating their name with it.

I hope Raza doesn’t publish your crap anymore.

  9. mind your language Mr. self styled Lawyer
