When will Pakistan recognize Kosovo?
by cheshmgir
With the new government one hopes Kosovo is recognized sooner rather then later. The map below shows the countries which have recognized Kosovo in blue. The ones who are expected to soon are shown in yellow. It is startling how many countries in the Middle East are still to recognize the country.
By the way I do not support how Kashmir is shown as a part of India in the map. I got the map of a website called ‘Kosovo Thanks You.’
The Kosovons of all people should know about the struggle for freedom of the Kashmiri people.
Here is what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says on the issue of Kosovo recognition:
DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE BY KOSOVO
Kosovo has a tragic history in the recent past when much of its population suffered and some had to seek refuge in the neighbouring countries. Pakistan had supported Kosovo’s cause in the United Nations. We had also supported the recommendations of the Martti Ahtisaari initiative.
2. We understand and support the legitimate aspirations of the Kosovars and the need for peace in Kosovo and the region. Pakistan is watching the developments in Kosovo carefully. We have noted the recognition extended by a number of important countries to the declaration of independence by the Kosovo Parliament and the statement made by the OIC Secretary General expressing happiness over this development, and solidarity and support with the Kosovars. Our policy will be guided by these developments and the aspirations of the people of Kosovo. It remains our earnest desire that situation remains calm and peaceful in Kosovo and the region.

Maybe showing Kashmir as part of India was deliberate. I think it’s just a matter of time before Pakistan recognizes Kosovo… it’ll be more interesting when/if India does it.

I am more curious why all the NATO countries have recognized Kosovo?
Don’t you smell anything fishy?

As an Indian (part Kashmiri) anti-nationalist, I’ve always found the case for Kosovar independence quite weak and in some ways regressive. Their sovereignty only makes sense within the context of the expanding EU… Brussels encourages growing regionalisation and micro-statehood to the detriment of sovereign states like Spain (which doesn’t recognise Kosovo, lest it fall further afoul of Catalonia and the Basque Country) and the UK (with Scottish independence not an improbable prospect). Only within the European frame (and beneath the NATO umbrella) can Kosovar independence be remotely viable.
Connecting the Kosovar cause with that of Kashmir requires a huge leap of imagination and willful sentiment. On its own merits, Kashmir has a much realer claim to independence than Kosovo (Kosovo has never, ever been a sovereign polity). But you can’t just link the two in some kind of continuum of nationalist struggles. Pakistanis should know more than anybody else how the Kashmiri struggle is not simply an independence movement but a clash between two states (how different would Pakistani politics be today if so much money and public attention had not been devoted to the Kashmir issue?). Kosovo’s independence has everything to do with the positioning of Europe against Russia. Look at the context, not just the content.
I’d be very surprised if India recognised Kosovo, because any such recognition would be interpreted without the nuance detailed above.

well It is Become very contervertial if Kovoso will not consider kashmir as a occupied area forcefully by India .
Pakistan should make policy his policy with kosovo on that condition.
