As an Indian (part Kashmiri) anti-nationalist, I've always found the case for Kosovar independence quite weak and in some ways regressive. Their sovereignty only makes sense within the context of the expanding EU... Brussels encourages growing regionalisation and micro-statehood to the detriment of sovereign states like Spain (which doesn't recognise Kosovo, lest it fall further afoul of Catalonia and the Basque Country) and the UK (with Scottish independence not an improbable prospect). Only within the European frame (and beneath the NATO umbrella) can Kosovar independence be remotely viable.

Connecting the Kosovar cause with that of Kashmir requires a huge leap of imagination and willful sentiment. On its own merits, Kashmir has a much realer claim to independence than Kosovo (Kosovo has never, ever been a sovereign polity). But you can't just link the two in some kind of continuum of nationalist struggles. Pakistanis should know more than anybody else how the Kashmiri struggle is not simply an independence movement but a clash between two states (how different would Pakistani politics be today if so much money and public attention had not been devoted to the Kashmir issue?). Kosovo's independence has everything to do with the positioning of Europe against Russia. Look at the context, not just the content.

I'd be very surprised if India recognised Kosovo, because any such recognition would be interpreted without the nuance detailed above.

I am more curious why all the NATO countries have recognized Kosovo?

Don't you smell anything fishy?

Maybe showing Kashmir as part of India was deliberate. I think it's just a matter of time before Pakistan recognizes Kosovo... it'll be more interesting when/if India does it.
